Complaints about councillors

Use this process if your concern is about the conduct of a Brightmere councillor rather than the delivery of a council service.

Use this process if your concern is about the conduct of a Brightmere councillor rather than the delivery of a council service.

What the complaint should cover

Tell the council which councillor the complaint concerns, describe the conduct you believe should be considered and provide any information that helps explain what happened. The complaint is considered under the council's standards arrangements.

What this process does not cover

It is not the route for challenging an ordinary service decision, complaining about a member of staff or asking the council to provide a service. Those matters should use the relevant service, complaints or employment process.

What happens after submission

The council records the complaint and applies the standards procedure that governs councillor conduct. The complainant is told about the next step and the outcome that can properly be disclosed under that process.
