Audit and governance arrangements help Brightmere Council oversee the systems that support lawful, accountable and well-controlled administration.
What the function covers
The council's audit and governance work can consider internal control, governance, risk, assurance, audit findings and other matters assigned to the Audit and Governance Committee or the appropriate officer arrangements.
This work supports, but does not replace, the responsibilities of Full Council, the executive, scrutiny or the council's statutory and senior officers.
Meetings and reports
Committee agendas, reports, minutes and decisions are published through the meetings and decisions service when those records exist and are public.
What audit and governance covers
Audit and governance provides a distinct assurance function within the council. It is concerned with the effectiveness of governance, internal control, risk management and audit arrangements rather than with taking ordinary service decisions.
Where the Audit and Governance Committee considers business in public, the relevant agenda, report, minutes and decision information should be available through the meetings service.
