Councillors are elected to represent residents and take part in the democratic work of Brightmere Council.
What councillors do
Councillors represent the interests of their ward, contribute to council policy and decisions, take part in Full Council and other council bodies, and hold the executive to account through scrutiny where they are appointed to do so.
They also provide a democratic link between residents and the council. A councillor can raise matters affecting their ward and help residents understand which council or public body is responsible for an issue.
Councillor information
When current electoral and membership information is available, councillor profiles can include the ward represented, council roles, committee memberships and public contact information. Information is kept separate from officer and service-contact details so residents can choose the right route.
Standards
Councillors are subject to the council's standards arrangements. Concerns about a councillor's conduct use the separate councillor-complaints process rather than the ordinary service-complaints route.
