The local-history service helps residents research the development, communities and institutions of Brightmere using records available through the council.
What you can research
Local-history enquiries may relate to places, organisations, community life, public administration or other aspects of Brightmere's past reflected in council-held material.
Making an enquiry
Provide the subject you are researching and any useful dates, names or places. The more specific the enquiry, the easier it is for the service to identify potentially relevant records.
Related collections
For museum, object or heritage interpretation material, use the museums and heritage section as well as the archives service.
Researching Brightmere
Local-history research can draw on council records, archival collections and other historical material. The archive service can help identify material held by Brightmere Council, but it cannot guarantee that the council holds records for every person, property, organisation or event connected with the area.
When material is available, staff provide the access route and explain any restrictions that apply.
