Brightmere Council maintains standards arrangements for the conduct of its councillors.
Expected conduct
Councillors are expected to follow the code and standards requirements that apply to their office. These arrangements support confidence in council decision making and provide a route for concerns about councillor conduct to be considered fairly.
Making a conduct complaint
A complaint about a councillor is different from a complaint about a council service. The complaint should identify the councillor and explain the conduct that you believe should be considered under the standards arrangements.
Use Complaints about councillors for that process. Ordinary service complaints should use the council's normal complaints route.
The standards framework
Standards arrangements support confidence in the conduct of elected members and the integrity of council decision making. They are separate from the process for complaining about the quality of a council service.
Where a concern is about an individual councillor's conduct, the councillor-complaints route explains how the concern is submitted and identifies who is responsible for considering it.
